Self-Hosting

By “Self-hosting” we mean that we manage for our clients their digital the infrastructure, their stack deployment, their configurations, updates, and data: without relying on a third party. We fully control the OS and environment of the stack, the docker containers and data volumes, the networking, the backups, the security, and the software updates.

While we can provide SSH keys and let our clients see the underbelly of their digital services, we encourage our clients to trust us and let us enable them to do what they do best. That is to say, you’re welcome to look under the hood, but our service is oriented towards us handling all of that for you. That’s why you’re paying us.

Backups

Each Client’s data is backed up every night on a schedule, using vsync and borg backups. The backup targets are both local volumes on or connected to the servers, as well as remote backups to a different geographic locations on different servers. In the case of data corruption, or an update which didn’t go too well, rollbacks are as easy as a couple commands on the command line.

Security

The only exposed ports on our servers are those which are exposed via Nginx reverse proxy. This means that the only way anyone accesses any of the services is by going through a narrow gate, and then the proxy directs the traffic to whatever service is specifically requested. All of our apps allow for 2 factor authentication configuration, and we encourage its use. IP filtering is also available.
